2008 GOVERNOR'S CUP TOURNAMENT

Tournament Playing Rules and Tournament Information

ASA Rules for 2008 will govern.

1. This is a State of Texas Public Employee (State, City, and County) tournament. Rosters, limited to 20 player, MUST be composed of no less than 70% Public Employees. Of the 10 fielded positions, 7 players on the field must meet the eligibility requirement. Individuals that are currently employed, retired from, or an immediate family member of any of the following agencies suffices the requirement: State of Texas, Public Utility, City Employee, County Employee, School District, Fire, Police, and EMS. Team Roster's for the tournament must be turned in at check-in to the Tournament Director or his representative prior to the team's first game of the tournament. Proof of employment must be available for inspection at any time by the tournament director and/or his committee. Proof of employment can be any of the following: company/agency identification card, leave summary, check stub, or retirement information along with a State driver’s license or Identification card.

2. Prior to each game, each team is responsible for paying $10 cash to the umpires.

3. Tournament format is double elimination. Batters start with a 0-0 count.

4. A copy of the game line-up must be given to the home plate umpire prior to the start of the game. Any protest of a roster or player must be made prior to the last out of the 1st inning or first inning of entry of the player being protested. There is a $50 fee for all protests. The Tournament Director’s decision is final.

5. Flip of coin will determine home team.

6. Game time is forfeit time. Time limit will be 55 minutes. Tied games will continue as one-pitch until a winner is determined.

7. Protests will be decided at the time they occur. The game will be halted and a ruling made. Then, if applicable, the game will continue.

8. No infield practice will be allowed on the infield prior to the game.

9. All teams should be ready and prepared to play back-to-back games.

10. ENTRY FEE: $195, all classifications

11. ENTRY DEADLINE: August 15, 2008

12. GAME BALLS will be furnished by both teams. CORE .44, 375 lbs. only.

13. Should unusual circumstances arise that require a decision, this decision will be made by the Tournament Director and his committee.

14. EACH TEAM, ALL MANAGERS, ALL SPECTATORS, AND ALL PLAYERS ARE ASKED AND URGED TO DEMONSTRATE GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP THROUGHOUT THE TOURNAMENT. THERE WILL BE A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY IN EFFECT REGARDING CUSSING, TRASH TALKING, TAUNTING, OR UMPIRE ABUSE.
